Family Support – A.M.Mi Association
FAMILY SUPPORT
The A.M.Mi Association (Association against Mitochondrial Diseases) is committed to supporting families affected by mitochondrial diseases and their loved ones. These rare, often complex diseases require comprehensive support, addressing both medical and personal aspects.
Our mission is to offer moral, administrative, practical, and financial support to affected families at all stages of the disease.
We offer

- Listening and psychological support
- Administrative assistance: support with procedures related to disability, care, social aid, or schooling.
- One-time financial assistance: to alleviate certain uncovered expenses (medical travel, adapted equipment, therapeutic stays, etc.).
- Medical information and guidance: dissemination of reliable documents on mitochondrial diseases, connecting with expert centers or specialists.
- Meetings and events: organization of exchange days, conferences, support groups, or family workshops; a family weekend is held annually in Les Sables-d'Olonne.
- Research support: we fund and disseminate research projects, aligned with patient needs, under the supervision of the scientific committee.
Conditions for receiving assistance
Assistance is reserved for families:
- Having a child or an adult diagnosed with a mitochondrial disease (diagnosis confirmed or in progress, recognized by a healthcare professional).
- Members of the association (membership ensures the fairness and sustainability of our actions).
- Being a member for at least one year (except in special cases, upon review of the application)
Financial aid is subject to the review of an application file by the Family Assistance Committee (medical and social supporting documents to be provided) and granted within the limits of available funds, according to the priorities set by our aid committee.
How to apply?
- Member of the association (at least one year)
- Residing in France, the Overseas Departments and Territories, and Belgium,
- Contact your regional delegate or the President of the Committee (by email or phone) to explain your situation,
- Prepare an application file with the help of your Regional delegate
