Dear friends and visitors,<\/span><\/p>

Welcome to the A.M.Mi website<\/span><\/p>

Since 1998, the association has had a clear mission: <\/span>to support families affected by mitochondrial diseases<\/b> and <\/span>to advance research<\/b>.<\/span>
<\/span>These diseases are rare, complex, sometimes silent… but they strike hard, everywhere, and often without warning. In the face of them, we have chosen to respond with <\/span>solidarity<\/b>, <\/span>science<\/b>, and <\/span>human commitment<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

In 2025, our association enters its <\/span>27th year<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

What a journey since the beginning! This collective effort has allowed us to bring together <\/span>more than 200 families<\/b>, in <\/span>metropolitan France<\/b>, in the <\/span>French overseas departments and territories<\/b> and abroad, to build bridges between families, clinicians, researchers, and to play a role in the <\/span>creation of reference centers<\/b>, the <\/span>dissemination of reliable information<\/b>, and the <\/span>concrete support<\/b> for affected individuals.<\/span><\/p>

But I do not carry this strength alone. By my side, A.M.Mi relies on a <\/span>team of committed men and women<\/b>, often behind the scenes but always present.<\/span>
<\/span>A patron, <\/span>Guy Lecluyse<\/b> (actor), our <\/span>executive committee<\/b> and our <\/span>board of directors<\/b>, composed of parents, relatives, and allies,<\/span> voluntarily<\/b> give their time and energy to advance projects, respond to families, manage partnerships, and organize activities. Their work is <\/span>discreet, demanding, constant<\/b>, and it deserves all my gratitude.<\/span><\/p>

We also have the good fortune to count on a <\/span>network of regional delegates<\/b> throughout <\/span>France<\/b>, including the <\/span>French overseas territories<\/b>, and even <\/span>beyond our borders<\/b>, particularly in <\/span>Belgium<\/b>, thanks to our partner team <\/span>Lucia\u2019s Hope<\/b>, which relays, acts with the same passion and values to inform, support, and raise awareness about mitochondrial diseases.<\/span><\/p>

It is this human chain, this solid collective, that makes A.M.Mi an <\/span>association on a human scale<\/b>, but with <\/span>national, European, and international reach<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

Our mobilization has allowed us to forge lasting ties with organizations such as <\/span>Alliance Maladies Rares<\/b>, <\/span>AFM-T\u00e9l\u00e9thon<\/b>, <\/span>Eurordis<\/b>, or <\/span>International Mito-Patient (IMP)<\/b>, of which we are <\/span>co-founders<\/b>.<\/span>
<\/span>We are also <\/span>co-founders of the European Association for Rare and Complex Epilepsy<\/b>, a trans-pathological network that acts for all forms of rare epilepsy, regardless of their origins.<\/span>
<\/span>Together, we make the voices of families heard in <\/span>healthcare pathways<\/b>, <\/span>national plans<\/b>, and <\/span>research initiatives<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

Of course, the road ahead is long.<\/span>
<\/span>But we are at the heart of <\/span>promising scientific advancements<\/b>: genetic tools are progressing, data is opening up, laboratories are collaborating globally.<\/span><\/p>

We must remain <\/span>united, demanding, and active<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

So yes, now more than ever, <\/span>let us unite our forces<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

Let us continue this fight.<\/span>
<\/span>Let us continue to circulate energy where mitochondria are lacking.<\/span><\/p>

Mitochondrial diseases are rare, progressive pathologies for which there is still no curative treatment. They affect both children and adults, profoundly impacting their daily lives. <\/p>
